Yacht with fishing net around propeller
A yacht picked up a fishing net in it's propeller at Mana Island on a very calm, still night. Drifting onto nearby rocks on Mana Island, Coastguard Mana were called to assist. They had managed to quickly deploy their anchor to stop them from hitting shore and CRV Trust Porirua Rescue approached and took the yacht under tow.
Meanwhile, Pelorus worked to locate the mooring near the rangers station and secured a line to it. TPR very slowly towed the yacht up to the mooring and Pelorus handed them the line so that they could drop the towline and then pull up the main mooring line attached to the rope.
Father and daughter spent the night on the mooring to await daylight where he could dive under and free the fishing net.
