A 20ft vessel broke down near the south end of Mana Island after encountering Kelp on the shallow area between Green Point and Mana Island, known as "The Bridge".

There were 3 people on board and had been fishing in the area. They were wearing lifejackets and made contact with Police, contact method unknown at time of writing.

Coastguard Mana was called out by Police and CRV Trust Porirua Rescue was dispatched to tow them home with 6 crew on board.

The vessel was taken under tow and safely returned to Mana Marina.
