The Harbour Master requested the assistance of Coastguard Mana to help resolve a situation caused by severe southerly winds overnight.  A catamaran in Porirua Harbour had slipped its anchor and drifted into a trimaran moored nearby.  Both yatchs were caught together and the strong southerlies had caused the trimaran to puncture the cat above the water line.

The owners were on board and declined assistance. They preferred to wait until the wind had eased.  No further damage was expected by either vessel.

Coastguard Mana laid an anchor attached to the trimaran, which was down wind, and if it was nessesary the trimaran could be cut loose from the mooring and be secured by the anchor.
