Coastguard Mana had a boat and a vehicle out for the day to support the on-the-water component of the Porirua Grand Traverse, the kayaking on Porirua Harbour / Paremata Inlet. The kayak course took competitors from Onepoto Rowing Club, under the bridges into Paremata Inlet and then back to the finish line at the other end of Porirua Harbour by Whiteraia Polytech.

Tasks involved working alongside and tasking the other 5 support vessels from Titahi Bay Boating Club, Paremata Boating Club, Ngatitoa Sea Scouts, as well as a private vessel, to provide a visual watch over the entire course, providing lunch to the other support vessel crews and assisting kayakers where required. This was accomplished very successfully with the help of Coastguard Mana volunteers in the Unit's 4WD support vehicle.

In total we provided 45 man-hours of support for this popular event.
